Hack for Energy [H4ck Energy] is a national hackathon for Energy Transition for the Netherlands powered by ENGIE Nederland and Energy Academy Europe and backed by IBM, the City of Groningen, Province of Groningen and the Hackitarians Foundation. You will be hacking with  latest cutting-edge technology from IBM with cognitive computing via Watsonfor Artificial Intelligence and their brilliant development platform Bluemix – as well as bringing their expertise in Big Data,  Blockchain technology and Internet of Things.

The event is part of the Hacked in Groningen hackathon league – which quantifies and uses innovation as a benchmark  for winning prizes, gaining points and attaining status (best coder, best designer and best commercial concepter).

CAN WE CRASH AT THE VENUE?

Yes sure.

But it is roughing it – you will need to bring your own bedroll and camping mattress. Pillow is good too. And there’s no shower.

But most people usually take short naps and freshen up in the bathroom over the 48 hours.

FREE FOOD AND DRINKS?

Yep – five meals over three days and beer, wine, sodas’ fresh juices, etc.

Load of good, strong coffee and tea. And fruits galore – to keep the energy levels up.

It’s not all Red Bull and chips, we like healthy food too. At the last Hacked in Groningen event we made  made the breakfast and lunches ourselves and ordered in Pizza on opening night and really great authentic Chinese from Ni Hao, Groningen’s most famous Asian restaurant.

Over the course of the weekend, you will meet people from other walks of life who share a interest in Energy Transition. You will also  learn how to work with new technologies, throw together tons of code, and hopefully finish what you set out to build by Sunday afternoon!
