What’s on offer?
The BIG IoTHack event aims to bring together people from business and technical backgrounds, in an intensive weekend to work on real world challenges and ideas where IoT technology can provide a solution. You’ll develop a prototype product and will receive help to create a business plan and then you’ll pitch to a panel of expert judges. The winning pitches will receive prizes that help get their idea to the next stage. There’s plenty of technology on offer too, with hardware from Pycom, Cloud services from Global Cloud providers and LPWAN Networks and access to the University of Surrey’s 5G test-bed and VR/AR Lab and much more. You’ll have expert mentors on hand to inspire, support and help. Your ideas will quickly become a reality. So if you’re interested in getting an IoT start-up off the ground or, just want to have fun with like-minded people this is a must.

Pycom will be providing you with hardware sensors and you’ll have free access to the Microsoft Azure Cloud, which will let you ingest, store and analyse your data. You’ll have a complete, end-to-end, software and hardware platform that will enable you to get coding and realise your idea. If it turns out to be viable, the platform can scale to multi-millions of devices, generating multi-billions of messages per day!
You’ll also have access to WiFi and SigFox Networks as well as our VR/AR Lab and the University of Surrey’s 5G test-bed. To help support and inspire you throughout the weekend mentors will be on hand to talk through your ideas, help with any problems and run mini seminars to inspire and help you on your way. It’s a great package with access to some truly ground breaking technology!

What are the challenges?
The challenges will be provided by the residents of Basingstoke, through the current consultation https://lovebasingstoke.dialogue-app.com/a-smarter-basingstoke, residents will provide everyday problems that can be solved using smart tecnology.
